  • Product description

Repel Tropical Strength and Ultra Insect Repellents will safely and effectively repel mosquitoes, sandflies, fleas, biting flies, ticks and other blood sucking insects.

Our DEET-based products should be your repellent of choice to protect against the Zika virus, dengue fever, Chikungunya, malaria, Ross River fever, West Nile fever and other diseases transmitted by the bite of infected insects. Results from a recent independent study show our DEET-based insect repellents offer 100% protection from the Aedes aegypti mosquito, the primary carrier of the Zika virus which can be found throughout the Pacific Islands and around the world.

The new look of the Repel Tropical Strength Aerosol means that it now comes in a more streamlined can which fits neatly into your hand for ease of application.

Optimum levels of DEET recommended by the World Health Organisation and Centre for Disease Control are between 30-50%. DEET percentages higher than 40% are considered to be no more effective and will increase the likelihood of skin irritation and rashes

View our interactive world map to see the most common mosquito-borne diseases around the world and read our travel tips to stay safe when you travel overseas.

When visiting areas where mosquito borne diseases are endemic, it is recommended that clothing is also treated with Permethrin to ensure complete protection. Permethrin Treated mosquito nets should also be used for sleeping if there is a chance that mosquitoes may be present.

Most Repel Tropical Strength products come in a handy size for travelling and can be carried within on-board luggage when flying. DEET is a strong plasticiser that can distort or harm some plastics, synthetics and other materials. In case of accidental leakage always store DEET-based insect repellents separately in a zip-lock bag before stowing in luggage. When possible, store upright and make sure cap is screwed on tightly (if using the Roll-on or Stick products). Wash hands after using.

  • Features and benefits

Repel is water and sweat resistant so the effectiveness won’t easily be diminished by water and perspiration. This is important for use in hot and humid environments or when working, exercising, and swimming.

Repel products are created with a special silicon formulation. This silicon works to act as a layer on the skin and supports the DEET. This allows the DEET to fully dissipate allowing improved effectiveness and very importantly, helps to minimise the amount of DEET that is absorbed into the skin.

Repel contains chloroxylenol, terpineol and lavender oil; all have known antiseptic, antibacterial and antiviral properties. This is especially effective when applying Repel Insect Repellents in tropical areas where antiseptic properties are most useful.

If an insect repellent smells nice it’s more apt to be used. Insect repellents in the “olden days” were nasty; oily and smelly. Not so with Repel! The lavender oil and terpineol both act to enhance the fragrance, as well as offering other benefits.

All Repel insect repellents come in convenient hands-free applications unlike some other gels and lotions which are available which need to be rubbed onto the skin increasing the risk of DEET absorption if hands are not washed thoroughly after application.
